Winter Sports Club snowboarder wins first career NorAm

Virginia “GiGi” Boyd, a snowboard cross athlete for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, captured her first career snowboard cross NorAm victory on Wednesday at the Holeshot Cross Tour at Gore Mountain in New York. 

Boyd, 17, was joined on the podium by SSWSC alumna Kendall Harrington, who took third overall on the day. Harrington earned a second podium position the following day with another bronze. Boyd took seventh. 

Steamboat’s Walker Overstake also earned his career-best NorAm finish with eighth on Wednesday. 



The Holeshot Cross Tour is a competition series which acts as a breeding ground for the World Cup level for snowboard cross and ski cross events. The next stop on the tour is Sunday River Resort in Maine from Feb. 25-March 1. It will later take athletes to Steamboat Resort for competitions March 14-19.
