Protesters oppose accommodation for Ukrainian refugees in Co Kildare

About 200 protesters turned out on a march to oppose accommodation planned to house refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine on Sunday.

The site on undeveloped lands in an area called Flood’s Cross between Naas and Newbridge is planned to house around 900 refugees in cabin-style accommodation under large marquees on the site.

Protesters, many of them carrying Irish flags, as well as banners commonly seen at far-right, anti-immigrant protests in recent months, marched to oppose the plans.
