A Commerce City police officer was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in Fort Lupton on Thursday.
Michael Glenn Parker, 30, was booked into the Weld County Detention Center on an arrest warrant for one count of sexual assault, Fort Lupton police said in a news release Friday. Parker is a resident of Fort Lupton.
Police began investigating the assault on Oct. 30 after it was reported in the 500 block of South Rollie Avenue in Fort Lupton.
The Commerce City Police Department learned of the investigation in November and reassigned Parker to a role with no in-person public interaction and started an internal investigation, the agency said in a news release.
Parker was placed on unpaid administrative leave Thursday and the internal investigation into the case is ongoing, Commerce City police said.
