With a reinforcing shot of cooler, drier air coming in this evening, we could see clouds hang on just a bit longer, even bringing us a shower. The coldest air of the weekend comes in tomorrow, but temperatures are still around average for this time of year.

Through Tonight: There’s a slight chance of a shower early this evening, especially south of the city. Then breezes from the north slowly calm and skies gradually clear. Low temperatures bottom out near 20 to mid-20s.

Tomorrow (Sunday): Skies are mostly sunny with just a few midday and afternoon clouds. High temperatures top out near average, in the mid-40s to around 50 degrees. Calm morning conditions could give way to afternoon breezes from the south occasionally nearing 15 mph gusts. Overnight, skies average partly cloudy with just an outside chance of a stray shower nearer dawn. Low temperatures cool to within a few degrees of 35.

Pollen levels notably high — a deeper dive

CWG’s Ian Livingston mentioned in his morning forecast today that pollen levels in the area are high and antihistamines might be warranted. Here are some contextual pieces of information for allergy sufferers. First, we’re running just above average for tree pollen levels for this time of year:

Second, the tree species in the pollen profile can be important to note. Some trees may have an outsize nuisance for you, compared to others. Personally, I have noticed that on some low-pollen days I feel awful, and on some high-pollen days I am okay — it’s all dependent on which tree species are in the air.
