Fast bowler Akash Deep made a dream debut to his Test career on Friday as he picked up three crucial wickets in his first six overs, leaving England reeling after they had won the toss and elected to bat first in the fourth Test match against India at the JSCA stadium in Ranchi. Akash Deep was almost unplayable in the early part of the first session.

Captain Rohit Sharma handed Akash Deep the new ball from the other hand, and the right arm seamer impressed critics with his bowling. Akash Deep’s pace remained in the 130s and Jurel had to make quite a brilliant take off the third ball, which flew down the leg side of Duckett. He conceded just two runs off his first over.

He picked up the wicket of Zak Crawley in his second over, but the delivery was declared a no-ball by the umpire. Zak, who earlier survived due to Akash Deep’s no ball, was bowled after scoring 42.

Akash Deep hails from Sasaram, Bihar and shifted to Durgapur on the pretext of a job but went to a cricket academy and there has been no looking back for the youngster since then. Akash Deep is the third Indian player after Sarfaraaz Khan and Dhruv Jurel to make his debut in the ongoing five-match Test series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 schedule on Thursday. The tournament will start with Defending champion Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on March 22 at Chepauk. The schedule was announced on Thursday only for the first 21 matches. The fixtures for the remaining games will be announced in due course.
