Stressing Kuwait’s growing importance as a market for various products including readymade garments, ambassador Faisal Mutlaq H Al Adwani urged Bangladeshi exporters to consider Kuwait for diversification.

Speaking recently at a reception in Dhaka commemorating Kuwait’s National Day and Liberation Day, attended by social welfare minister Dr. Dipu Moni and other dignitaries, Al Adwani highlighted Kuwait’s potential as a hub for Gulf region markets.

He emphasised the need for increased interaction between business chambers and entrepreneurs of both countries to boost bilateral trade revenue to over $1 billion annually.

Bangladesh’s exports to Kuwait stood at $21 million from July to December and $40 million from July to June.

Al Adwani extended congratulations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Kuwait’s Independence and Liberation Day.

He underscored the evolving special relationship between Kuwait and Bangladesh, rooted in principles of respect, trust, fairness, and equality.

Al Adwani praised Bangladesh’s principled support during Kuwait’s past challenges and acknowledged the positive contributions of the Bangladeshi diaspora to Kuwait’s development.

Kuwait, in turn, has been a key partner in Bangladesh’s progress, with government-to-government agreements dating back to 1974 and significant support from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, totalling $600.80 million across various sectors.

Al Adwani highlighted existing agreements covering trade, aviation, technical cooperation, taxation, and defence.
