Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(up 11.12%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(up 6.93%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd.(up 5.05%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(up 5.00%), GE T&D India Ltd.(up 4.54%), JSW Energy Ltd.(up 3.87%), Inox Wind Ltd.(up 3.27%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(up 2.17%), Karma Energy Ltd.(up 2.00%) and KEC International Ltd.(up 1.99%) stood among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures Ltd.(down 4.19%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 3.96%), NHPC Ltd.(down 2.61%), SJVN Ltd.(down 1.73%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(down 1.66%), NLC India Ltd.(down 1.33%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(down 0.79%), CESC Ltd.(down 0.62%), Adani Power Ltd.(down 0.57%) and NTPC Ltd.(down 0.54%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 4.75 points down at 22212.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 15.44 points at 73142.8.

Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 1.51%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.3%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.23%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 1.1%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.06%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.03%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.02%), Wipro Ltd.(up 0.97%), Cipla Ltd.(up 0.91%) and Reliance Industries Ltd.(up 0.81%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.28%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.23%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 1.05%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.05%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 0.93%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 0.92%), State Bank of India(down 0.9%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 0.87%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.86%) and ITC Ltd.(down 0.74%) closed in the red.
