  1. Eng 271-7

    Root 95, Robinson 12

Ollie Robinson biffs Ravindra Jadeja in the air down the ground for four as the spinner gets too full.

It's a good shot just don't get out. Simple, ey?

The India players seem to be getting a little edgy. Still no new ball...

  2. Eng 267-7

    Root 95, Robinson 8

    I dare you, Ben.

It was these two batters in the middle on day one of the Ashes at Edgbaston, after all, with Root unbeaten on 118.

Chris Jones: Full Bazball would be for England to declare with five overs to go this evening and Stokes takes the new ball!

Paul Cotterill: I can just sense Stokes is itching to declare tonight and open the bowling himself to reclaim Bazball status for the day...

  4. Eng 265-7

Oh no! That was some sort of optical illusion. The ball didn't hit bat it hit pad - and the ball tracking says it would have crashed into the stumps. Burning those reviews has cost India.

Joe Root, meanwhile, goes into the nineties with a four to fine leg...

  5. Eng 261-7

Stuart Broad would be proud of the amount of pleading towards the umpire Ravindra Jadeja has done today. The spinner does so again in appeal for lbw, on and on he goes, but Kumar Dharmasena shakes his head.

The replays show Ollie Robinson nicked it and India have no reviews anyway.

Dharmasena has a word with Rohit - possibly for the appealing or maybe for Jadeja running right down the pitch while doing so.

  6. Eng 260-7

    Root 88, Robinson 8

Good running from Ollie Robinson nudges England along.

All eyes on Rohit and the umpire. They haven't taken the new ball yet and Ravindra Jadeja continues.

  7. Eng 258-7

Akash Deep is warming up, a suggestion the new ball is coming. This old one may be reverse swinging a little but it was so hard to face earlier, India surely have to take it.

  8. Eng 257-7

It seems Ravichandran Ashwin is currently leading India as Rohit Sharma has nipped off the field. Stay in your crease at the non-striker's, Joe.

There's one more over until the new ball, if India want it.
