Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.9% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded negative around 10:50AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.7 per cent) were among the top gainers.

HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.39 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.37 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 1.35 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 1.24 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(down 1.17 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was down 0.9 per cent at 46594.55 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 127.9 points at 21927.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 387.02 points at 72236.07.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Jio Financial Servic and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of BF Utilities, Savita Oil Tech, Samhi Hotels, Hindustan Media and Tata Investment hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vibhor Steel Tubes, Eurotex Ind, N K Industries, Somi Conveyor and Compuage Infocom hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
