Spring-like weather ahead: Temps in the 60s, scattered showers in the forecast

Temperatures were cold Thursday, in the 30s, but a roller coaster warm up is ahead!

Highs on Thursday will reach 66 degrees, giving us a taste of spring.

While Thursday will start in the 30s, the warm up will be fast. We'll be in the 50s by 11 a.m., nearing 60 degrees by noon.

• Thursday: Mostly clear, breezy and warmer. High of 66 degrees.
• Friday: Partly cloudy and 60% chance of rain in the morning. High of 63 degrees.
• Saturday: There is a 30% chance for rain with a high of 54 degrees.

Spring-like weather ahead this weekend

Thursday will be partly sunny and warmer as a south wind picks up. Between the wind and warmer temperatures pollen should climb back into the high category. Highs on Thursday reach the mid 60s.

There is a chance for rain after midnight Thursday night into Friday, with a 60% chance for rain Friday during the day. According to WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell, the impacts will be minimal.

"This should be light, with less than .25 inches," Campbell said.

Once the rain clears, there will be an opportunity for some sun later in the day Friday with continued warmth, with highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday will have mostly cloudy skies with a few spotty showers possible as some upper level energy swings through.

"A few spotty showers are possible Saturday, but we expect plenty of dry time over the weekend," WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.

There will also be a slight chance for snow -- between 1 to 3 inches -- in the mountains.
