Anaheim Hills briefs: Saturday fair will help with getting prepared for emergencies

A community emergency preparedness fair, “Be Ready-Be Safe,” is being hosted by The Yorba Linda Stake of the Church of Latter-day Saints at its Anaheim Hills church location on Saturday,  and the community is encouraged to attend.

Anaheim Fire and Rescue will provide several demonstrations as well as important information during the 9  a.m. to noon fair. Some of these will include knowing your evacuation routes, 72-hour kits, food and water storage and first aid.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn how to be ready for wildfires, be ready for financial emergencies and how make an emergency plan. There will also be various fun activities for kids, plus much more.

Canyon Hills club marks 40 years

Members of the Ebell Club of Canyon Hills will celebrate the club’s 40th birthday during the March 11 general meeting.

The club, which was founded by hills resident Judy Dougal, who also served as its first president, was chartered and federated on March 9, 1984. A special program, planned by co-4th Vice Presidents Gayle Cornejo and Sue Shuckhart, will honor past club presidents during the morning meeting which begins at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church..

Past presidents include: Dougal, Linda Bird, Mary Sprague, Beverly Nihei, Shari Cipolla, Bonnie Duckworth, Dee Fisher, Linda Seymour, Becky Rice, Charlyn Barton, Judi Sepulveda, Mary Hovland, Sharon Woodward, Mai Hinwood, Elaine Moulden, Linda Schleiger, Joan Coy, Pam Starr, Linda Lewis, Donna Frize, Claudia Thielmann, Maxine Shaner, Jayne O’Toole, Barbara Landreth, Susan Harker, Sherye Ayres, Jackie Evett, Heather Terjung, Nancy Bertocchini and Patti Faiman. Joy Lais is current club president.

The nonprofit Ebell Club has been actively involved within the community over the past 40 years raising funds in support of numerous philanthropies.

One of the most recent community service projects members participated in was a very successful jacket, blanket and sleeping bag drive benefitting the Hub Resource in Orange. This project, spearheaded by 1st Vice President, Philanthropy Nancy Bertocchini supports the efforts of the HUB organization in serving the needs of the unhoused population throughout Orange County.

Fish fry tradition continues

San Antonio Catholic Church is hosting its annual Fish Fry Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. each Friday through March 22, in the church’s Glynn Hall. And the community is invited.

The Fish Fry, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, features a variety of fish dinner options. Prices vary depending upon each dinner. Contact the church office at 714-974-1416 for additional information.

Women’s Connection has a wee bit of “Irish” fun planned

The Anaheim, Orange and Villa Park Women’s Connection is planning a St. Patrick’s Celebration on March 11 at the Black Gold Golf Club. And all women in the community are invited.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for socializing and shopping from onsite vendors. Luncheon and program follow, starting at 11:30 a.m.

The program, presented by April Albrecht and Joanne Matteson will feature a wee bit of “Irish” fun you won’t want to miss. Talented musician Rick Albrecht will provide the afternoon entertainment.

Guest speaker Rhonda Keliipio asks “What are you saying YES to?” Find out what she has to say when she shares, “Did I say YES to that!” The day includes hostess gifts, door prizes and much more.

Cost to attend is $32 per person and reservation deadline is Feb. 26. Those planning to attend should contact Barbi Zipperian at 714-280-9062. Guests are encouraged to wear something green and come join in the fun.
