Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.

Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd.(up 6.37%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.(up 5.63%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.55%), Varun Beverages Ltd.(up 1.86%), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare Ltd.(up 1.35%), Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(up 0.80%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.70%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.56%), Parag Milk Foods Ltd.(up 0.48%) and Marico Ltd.(up 0.47%) stood among the top gainers.

Future Consumer Ltd.(down 5.27%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 3.71%), Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd.(down 3.61%), LT Foods Ltd.(down 3.42%), Vadilal Industries Ltd.(down 2.61%), Adani Wilmar Ltd.(down 2.47%), Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd.(down 2.05%), Hatsun Agro Products Ltd.(down 1.74%), Prataap Snacks Ltd.(down 1.49%) and ADF Foods Ltd.(down 1.06%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 141.91 points down at 22055.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 434.31 points at 72623.09.

Tata Steel Ltd.(up 2.03%), State Bank of India(up 1.5%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.87%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 0.86%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.56%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.33%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.31%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.31%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.22%) and Nestle India Ltd.(up 0.17%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 3.72%), Coal India Ltd.(down 3.04%), NTPC Ltd.(down 2.78%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 2.76%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 2.71%), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.99%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.82%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 1.8%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.79%) and Infosys Ltd.(down 1.77%) closed in the red.
