A collision involving a CTrain and another vehicle on Wednesday sent a man to hospital with life-threatening injuries and shut down the eastbound lanes of a major thoroughfare in northeast Calgary.
Police told Global News that officers were called to what they believe may be a “life-altering” collision at about 8:25 a.m. along Memorial Drive Northeast on the overpass above Deerfoot Trail.
Police said an investigation is ongoing but they believe a vehicle driven by a man in his 40s collided with the CTrain. The driver was taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for Calgary EMS told Global News the injured man was taken to Foothills Medical Centre.
They said the crash has shut down eastbound Memorial Drive at St. George’s Drive. It appeared that Deerfoot Trail was also impacted in the area of the crash but police did not mention any traffic disruptions there.
Police did not have further details about any injuries or what happened. A spokesperson for Calgary Transit told Global News all questions should be directed to the Calgary Police Service.
Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call police.
