Kirchenwitz: Garfield turns into border county
In the past 13 months Denver has processed over 40,000 foreign nationals at a cost of $42 Million. Mayor Johnson fears it will cost $180 million out of their 2024 budget.
Locally, Carbondale has welcomed over 100 Venezuelans so far, and Rob Stein has coordinated with the town to provide free housing and services. However, Rob said, “We will need the county and other municipalities to contribute to the effort.”
I sure am glad “we” need to do this. Congrats, Garfield County: “we” are now living in a “border county.”
Enjoy.
