Check out Galaxy S24’s improved vivid display mode in action

As you may have heard a thousand times already, the displays on the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are not as vibrant as Samsung fans have come to expect from Galaxy smartphones over the years.

To be more precise, the vivid display mode on the S24 series doesn't do what it should do: make colors pop and increase the saturation of on-screen content. Instead, it behaves virtually the same as the natural mode, which, as the name suggests, is tuned to make content look more realistic.

In fact, Samsung has put a huge emphasis on more natural color reproduction with the Galaxy S24 series, with the new Adaptive Color Tone feature using the phone's cameras to adjust the colors and white balance to make colors appear more natural in different lighting conditions.

But Galaxy S24 owners were not happy to discover that Samsung has taken the choice away from those who want punchier colors and don't care as much about realistic and accurate color reproduction. The criticism and feedback reached Samsung's ears, thankfully, and the company decided to add a “Vividness” adjustment slider for the vivid screen mode with the first Galaxy S24 software update.

That update made its debut in South Korea a few days back, but Samsung has not made it available in other countries as of February 20. But thanks to Twitter/X, you can see the improved vivid screen mode in action as you wait for the update to go live in your country.

A video published by user @MyDaebakCafe shows how selecting the vivid option now makes a noticeable difference. However, it's not clear how much of a difference the Vividness slider makes. That could be down to the angle at which the video was captured, though it's also possible that it's another issue Samsung may need to fix with future updates.

For now, we will have to be content with the fact that the display no longer looks equally dull on both the vivid and natural screen modes. We also hope that further improvements are on the cards if Galaxy S24 owners end up being disappointed with the solution included in the first update.
