POTSDAM, N.Y. — The Skidmore College men’s basketball finished the season at Clarkson University, dropping the final 86-71. The Thoroughbreds finish 4-20 overall and 2-16 in Liberty League play, while the Golden Knights finish 14-11 and 8-10.
Aiden Roy scored a team-high 19 points for Skidmore. Nick Padilla added 14 points and Ian Bentley chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.
Ryan Miles-Ferguson scored 31 points in 38 minutes. Braden Burns scored 18 off the bench and Jack Dalgety scored 12.
The Thoroughbreds jumped to a 9-0 lead, but Clarkson countered with a 20-3 run on the way to a 48-36 lead at the half. The Golden Knights extended the lead to as many as 22 in the second half, before Skidmore cut it to 15 late.
“As the lone senior, I want to make sure Ian Bentley gets his due for his incredible leadership under the most difficult of circumstances this season. I can’t personally thank him enough. He didn’t have a ton of experience coming into the year but you would have never known that. He kept eight freshmen and three sophomores positive through the loss of their head coach for a while and some devastating injuries to our roster. It all speaks volumes about his character and how successful of a person he will continue to be going forward,” Skidmore head coach Joe Burke remarked.
“More to come on this group going forward but these young guys got an experience that I know will pay off if they learn from it. This was a year to reload and we knew that coming in, when you add the other things they had to deal with on top of that it makes me extremely proud of all of them. The future is bright for Skidmore basketball,” Burke added.
