Businessman Denis O’Brien says his sale of the Beacon Hospital is “bittersweet”, despite making an estimated €250m on the deal, because he believes healthcare is set to become a major boom sector in Ireland.

O’Brien – who weeks ago ceded majority control of his Digicel telecoms empire to bondholders – has been outspoken in his downbeat views in recent years on sectors such as telecoms and commercial property where he’s previously made billions.
