Louisville organization honors those making a difference at 'Black Achievers Gala'

Those making a difference in the minority community and youth in Louisville were honored on Sunday.The 45th annual YMCA Black Achievers Gala was held at the Galt House in downtown Louisville.The event recognizes achievements made by children in the Black Achievers Program.It helps to create equity in education and inspires kids to achieve their goals. Graduating seniors from the program were honored, as well as adult achievers who have supported the program through their work."When I came last year, I was overwhelmed with emotion," said Nyshia Taylor with Black Achievers. "You're in a room with so many bright futures, speaking about the youth but also so many impactful people who have done a lot in the community and will continue to do so in the community. You're just surrounded by greatness, you know, achievers."Tabitha Awoniyi, a producer at WLKY, was recognized at the event.
