Suspect arrested in fatal hit-and-run collision in Canoga Park

CANOGA PARK — A 60-year-old woman was taken into custody Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run collision in Canoga Park that killed a 26-year- old man.

Detectives located Kenya Obinna of Canoga Park in the 7600 block of Canoga Avenue, near Saticoy Street, around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, where she was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder.

The crash occurred about 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 31 at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Alejandro Lopez Munoz of Northridge died at the scene, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner reported.

Detectives reported that a 2005 silver Toyota Camry and a dark-colored sedan were traveling at a high rate of speed south on Topanga Canyon Boulevard moments before the vehicles collided, sending the Camry veering into a light pole. After the collision, detectives sought help from the public identifying the dark-colored sedan driver.
