A runway at Dublin Airport was closed on Sunday afternoon after fuel leaked onto the surface from an aircraft.
A trail of fuel was left on the runway due to a leak from DAL45/DL45, the Delta Airlines flight from Dublin Airport to John F Kennedy International Airport in New York.
The affected runway was operated as a single runway following the leak – the north runway was blocked and the south was kept open.
Operations and rescue vehicles were sent out onto the runway to escort the aircraft to stand.
One of the aircraft’s engines was shut down before it was later fully shut down while being escorted.
The aircraft has been safely brought to a stand and passengers have been taken off board, with rescue and operations vehicles now stood down.
With a swift clean-up operation being carried out, Dublin Airport’s operator does not expect any significant delays and has advised passengers to plan for their flights as normal.
Spokesperson for the daa, the operator of Dublin Airport, Graeme McQueen said: "Our teams are dealing with a fuel leak from an aircraft this afternoon, but disruption to operations is minimal with both arrivals and departures continuing to move very well.
"Passengers should continue to plan as normal for any journeys this evening."
