The game remained scoreless through two periods, with both goaltenders, Vinnie Purpura for the Thunder and Zachary Emond for the Lions, showcasing exceptional skills between the pipes. The tension escalated as the crowd eagerly awaited the breakthrough moment.

It was Marcinkevics who finally shattered the deadlock in the third period, scoring his first ECHL goal at 7:35. Marcinkevics capitalized on a rebound from a Brendan Less shot, beating Emond and igniting a thunderous response from the home crowd. Less and Travis Broughman were credited with the crucial assists.

Building on the momentum, Tristan Ashbrook extended the Thunder’s lead to 2-0 at 16:22 of the third period. Ashbrook received a precise pass from Shane Harper behind the net and skillfully found the back of the net for his sixteenth goal of the season. Harper and Yushiroh Hirano contributed the assists, solidifying Adirondack’s control of the game.

In a remarkable defensive effort, Purpura stood tall in the Thunder’s net, turning away all 16 shots from the Lions. The shutout marked Purpura’s first professional shutout, further elevating the significance of the victory.

The icing on the cake came late in the third period when Harper netted an empty-net goal, securing the 3-0 win for the Thunder and sending the sellout crowd into a frenzy.
