E.J. Dionne Jr.’s Feb. 12 op-ed, “Let’s just say it: The GOP problem is metastasizing,” about the free fall of integrity among Republican Party leaders over the past dozen years, raised the question: Where is former president George W. Bush? Though Mr. Bush called out former president Donald Trump on occasion in 2021, he has been remarkably silent since, failing to come to the public aid of fellow Republicans such as former congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming and former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who warn of the many threats that another Trump presidency would pose for the nation. His voice could make a difference. His father, former president George H.W. Bush, would have shown more political courage.
