IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Ashwin returns to Rajkot, to rejoin team on day 4, confirms BCCI
R Ashwin, who had flown home on Friday due to a family medical emergency, rejoined his team in Rajkot on Sunday.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will return to the Test team in Rajkot on Day 4 and will play the remaining match of the heated third match against England, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) announced on Sunday.
The BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla revealed on Friday night, Ashwin left the Test and returned his home, Chennai, to take care of his mother. However, the champion spinner deserves a ton of respect and appreciation for returning to the Indian team in less than 48 hours.
The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) today released a statement, saying, R Ashwin has rejoined the team following a short leave due to a family emergency. Following Day 2 of the 3rd Test in Rajkot, Ashwin had to leave the team in order to take care of a family emergency.
Both R Ashwin and the team management are delighted to confirm that he will be back in action on Day 4 and will continue to contribute towards the team cause in the ongoing Test match, the statement continued.
Notably, Kuldeep Yadav informed the host broadcasters early on Sunday morning that he knew R Ashwin will be visiting Rajkot again on Sunday.
Remarkably, on Day 3, commentators confirmed on the news that match officials will permit R Ashwin to bat and bowl without going through the mandatory waiting period that is required for players who are out of action in a Test match.
The players, coaches, media, and fans have all shown a great deal of empathy and compassion, recognising the value of family as the top priority. The BCCI expressed joy at Ashwin’s return to the team, saying, the team and its supporters have stood united in support of Ashwin during this challenging period, and the management is delighted to welcome him back to the field.
While Indian bowlers were handed longer stints on Saturday, making Ashwin’s absence felt a little, the team still put on an outstanding display to bowl the English team out for 319. With four wickets, Mohammed Siraj was the most effective bowler, while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, both spinners, dismissed two batters apiece.

Ishan Kishan misses Ranji Trophy Match, cites reason, working on certain techniques
Ishan Kishan did not appeared in Jharkhand’s Ranji Trophy match that began from today, February 16.

Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan’s decision not to play Ranji Trophy has created a stirr everywhere. The skipper quoted the reason that he is working on certain techniques.
The 25-year-old disregarded BCCI secretary Jay Shah’s and India head coach Rahul Dravid’s unstructions on participating for the Ranji Trophy. After being sidelined since the start of the year, Kishan made the decision not to participate in Jharkhand’s last Group A match against Rajasthan at Jamshedpur’s Keenan Stadium on Friday.
The BCCI management told Ishan that he would be playing Jharkhand versus Rajasthan in the final Ranji Trophy Elite Group match, which begins on February 16. However, the batter missed the match. In addition to him, pacer Deepak Chahar chose to skip his Ranji Trophy commitments. Chahar has also been out of the match for some time.
Ishan Kishan reportedly trained at Reliance Stadium with Hardik and Krunal Pandya a few weeks ago. According to a number of sources, Ishan has been told to rejoin Jharkhand’s Ranji Trophy team and return to domestic cricket since the BCCI is unhappy with his attitude.
This comes three days after Jay Shah asked the players under central contract to be available for domestic red-ball cricket, sending a subtle but powerful message in the process.
Without mentioning the name, Shah kept BCCI’s stance clearly during a press conference and said, they have been informed on phone already and he is going to write letters as well that if their chairman of selectors, their coach and their captain are asking for it then the players will have to play red-ball cricket.
Additionally, there are speculations that BCCI intends to mandate participation in the Ranji Trophy in order for players to be qualified for the IPL.
Ahead of the Test series against South Africa, Ishan Kishan, who had allegedly been asking for breaks ever since the ODI World Cup last year, got permission from the team management. However, according to reports, captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid were not happy with how Kishan’s vacation was scheduled.

IND vs ENG 3rd Test, Day 2: Ravichandran Ashwin picks historic 500 Test wicket, beats Anil Kumble
R Ashwin became the second-fastest to 500 wickets in the 3rd Test vs England.

India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Friday, February 16, at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, accomplished the incredible achievement of taking 500 Test wickets.
Ashwin achieved the amazing feat of striking out Zak Crawley with a bowl during the first innings of the Test match at Rajkot. With 500 Test wickets, Ashwin became the second-fastest bowler after the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka.
The initial partnership of Crawley and Ben Duckett , who appeared to be quite dangerous, was broken by Ashwin. On Day 2, the duo had scored 89 runs in the first 13 overs of the match. Despite enjoying a quiet series, the spinner managed to trap Zak Crawley at short fine leg. Crawley was caught off guard by Ashwin’s off-spinner, which looped up to Rajat Patidar.
In terms of matches played and balls bowled, Ashwin became the second-fastest bowler to reach the milestone. With 25715 balls taken overall, Ashwin is second only to the great Glenn McGrath, who took 25528.
Ashwin surpassed Anil Kumble, who needed 105 matches, by reaching the highest point in just his 98th Test match. With just 87 Tests, the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan is in the lead.
Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin got his 100th test wicket more than ten years ago. Ashwin took Darren Sammy of the West Indies for his 100th Test wicket. When the West Indies visited India in 2013, Ashwin had trapped Sammy at short mid-wicket.

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson became Ashwin’s 200th Test wicket. During the 2016 Test series, when the Kiwis were in India, Ashwin took wicket of Williamson.
The spinner’s 300th Test wicket was Sri Lanka’s Lahiru Gamge while playing his 54th Test wicket. Ashwin scalped his wicket while playing a home Test in 2017.
