CANTON – Julia Iannucci Summa, 95, of Canton, formerly of New Hartford, beloved wife of 57 years of the late Duane J. Summa Sr., passed peacefully on Feb. 12, 2024, surrounded by four generations of her loving family.
Born July 12, 1928 in Westbury, N.Y., to Alfonso and Julia (Catapano) Iannucci, before her retirement, Julia worked as a legal secretary for law practices in Canton and Farmington. A woman of strong faith, she was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Hartford for six decades, a member of the women’s group, where she meticulously washed and ironed the altar cloths and other linens used in daily Masses.
Her proudest accomplishment in life was her family, who she loved dearly and catered to on holidays and nearly every Sunday. Julia (aka Jay, Mom, Gramma, Big G, Noni) is survived by her children, Robin Roberts of New Hartford, Duane Jr. (Christine) of Estero, Fla., Martin (Josepha) of Canton, Alfonse (Betsy) of New Hartford, and Ralph (Maria) of Farmington; grandchildren, Jason, Lisa, Martin, Anthony, Alessandra, Natalie, Madeline, Emily, Caroline, Julia and Eliza; great-grandchildren, Francesca, Katherine, Andrew and Julian; sisters, Anna Pancotti of Kew Gardens, N.Y., and Gloria Ciardullo of Muttontown, N.Y.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Joe and Albert, sister Marie, son-in-law Skook Roberts and grandson Matthew.
Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford, with a funeral Mass to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish, formerly Immaculate Conception Church, New Hartford. Burial will be private.
