IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

After 51 overs, India 196/2 (Shubman Gill 65, Kuldeep Yadav 3)

STUMPS ON DAY 3 — End of an excellent day for the Indian team! Not only do they produce a tremendous fightback with the ball to collect eight English wickets for just 112, bowling them out for 319 and collecting a first innings lead of 126, they also collect nearly 200 runs thereafter for the loss of just two wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal dishes out a second century in as many Tests before retiring hurt due to back issues while Shubman Gill too is looking solid on 65 at the moment, collecting a single off Rehan in the final over of the day.

Both Jaiswal and Gill had been dismissed cheaply in the first innings before Rohit and Jadeja produced an admirable fight back. This time it’s the youngsters who assume charge and put the Indians in the driving seat with two days left in the Test.

IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

After 50 overs, India 195/2 (Shubman Gill 64, Kuldeep Yadav 3)

Kuldeep decides to drive a loopy delivery from Rehan through the covers, and actually pushes for a third run to keep the strike for the next over. Hartley appeals for LBW against the nightwatchman in the fourth delivery of the following over, and the Englishmen aren’t interested in reviewing it. ‘Impact’ wouldn’t have mattered as Kuldeep wasn’t offering a shot, but the ball was sailing over the stumps. Maiden to Hartley. Should one one more over before the umpire flicks the bails to indicate close of play.

IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

After 48 overs, India 191/2 (Shubman Gill 63, Kuldeep Yadav 0)

OUT! Another soft dismissal for Patidar and he will be kicking himself for wasting another precious opportunity! It’s a half-tracker from Hartley that Patidar tried to pull towards midwicket, but ended up holing it out to Rehan at midwicket. England finally have a wicket in this session!

IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

After 46 overs, India 189/1 (Shubman Gill 61, Rajat Patidar 0)

Rehan replaces Wood with seven overs left in the day’s play. FOUR! Gill has taken charge now after Jaiswal decides to retire hurt, and gets into the act right away by cutting a short, wide delivery from the leg-spinner square of the wicket for a boundary. The four takes the Indian No 3 into the 60s. Hartley continues from the other end and collects his first maiden in his 13th over.

IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

After 44 overs, India 185/1 (Shubman Gill 57, )

Yashasvi Jaiswal retires hurt at the end of the 44th over! The opener decides to walk off the ground after collecting 104 off 133 balls with the back spasm becoming too much of an issue for him to be able to focus properly at the moment. Skipper Rohit and coach Dravid too might have sent a message to the centre for him to retire hurt for now and resume his knock at some other point. Rajat Patidar walks in next

IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

After 43 overs, India 184/1 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 104, Shubman Gill 56)

Bit of a delay before the start of the 43rd over with Yashasvi Jaiswal suddenly holding his back and appearing to be in some pain. The physio walks out to have a quick look and offer him a tablet or a spray. SIX! Gill brings up his half-century in style by confidently pulling a short delivery from Wood, clearing the square leg fence as a result. The six also takes India's lead past 300! Follows it up with a firm cut through point for a four two deliveries later that brings up 150 of the partnership for the second wicket.

After 42 overs, India 172/1 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 103, Shubman Gill 45)

Three singles conceded by Wood in his seventh over, with Jaiswal and Gill keeping the scoreboard ticking with the ball is not racing away towards the fence. IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

SIX! And now Gill decides to charge down the track against Root, hammering the ball over the bowler’s head and clearing the long off fence with ease, moving to 40 in the process. Collects a brace in the following delivery after glancing at a delivery going down leg, and another in the final delivery after working the ball towards deep square leg.

16:12 (IST)

IND vs ENG LIVE 3rd Test Day 3

After 39 overs, India 158/1 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 100, Shubman Gill 34)

FOUR! Yashasvi Jaiswal brings up his century in style — punching a short-of-length delivery from the pacer through extra cover, taking 122 deliveries to reach the three-figure mark for the second time in this series! What a knock this has been so far, taking just 42 deliveries to collect the next 50 runs after bringing up his half-century in 80 deliveries. Nine off Wood’s sixth over with a single coming in each delivery before the boundary off the last ball.

India vs England Highlights 3rd Test Day 3: As rare as it may get, India will be without Ravichandran Ashwin in the third Test from Day 3 and will have to play with just 10 players, although they will be allowed to have a substitute player, Ashwin withdrew late Friday effective immediately due to a family “medical emergency”. The start spinner had on Day 2 completed his 500 Test wickets by removing England opener Zak Crawley.
