Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

Vadilal Industries Ltd.(up 5.96%), Umang Dairies Ltd.(up 4.83%), LT Foods Ltd.(up 4.59%), Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(up 4.02%), Adani Wilmar Ltd.(up 2.81%), Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd.(up 2.14%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.42%), Parag Milk Foods Ltd.(up 1.41%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.39%) and Patanjali Foods Ltd.(up 1.27%) stood among the top gainers.

Future Consumer Ltd.(down 4.77%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.80%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.(down 1.97%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 1.61%), Hindustan Foods Ltd.(down 1.29%), Gillette India Ltd.(down 0.83%), Heritage Foods Ltd.(down 0.77%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 0.75%), Colgate-Palmolive(India)Ltd.(down 0.40%) and Bikaji Foods International Ltd.(down 0.36%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 129.96 points up at 22040.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 376.26 points at 72426.64.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 4.0%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 3.8%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 3.15%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 2.62%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 2.62%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 2.49%), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.97%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.61%), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.51%) and Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.42%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 2.53%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 0.94%), State Bank of India(down 0.92%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 0.75%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(down 0.69%), NTPC Ltd.(down 0.45%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.41%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.33%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 0.29%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.23%) closed in the red.
