Chance for rain Friday night, cooler weekend on tap
Friday will feature a mix of sun and clouds and mild temperatures before a cold front delivers cooler weather this weekend.
Temperatures on Friday are expected to reach comfortable highs in the 60s, providing a welcome break from the recent cold snap.
Saturday and Sunday will be cooler, with highs in the low 50s.
The weekend will be dry except for a chance for rain overnight Friday and into Saturday -- while most people are sleeping.
"The only chance for rain this weekend comes overnight from about midnight through 7 a.m. Saturday from the Triangle north into Virginia," WRAL meteorologist Anthony Baglione said. "Any rain will be light and very low impact."

- Friday: Mostly cloudy and still very mild. Highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
- Saturday: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. High is 51 degrees.
- Sunday: Dry and mostly sunny with a high of 54 degrees. Mostly dry.
A look ahead to the weekend
We're on track for a cold front to swing through Friday night into Saturday morning.
Most of the holiday weekend is dry and cooler with highs in the mid 50s.
Monday, which is President's Day, looks good with sunshine and highs in the upper 50s.
A couple of showers are possible for early Saturday, but the rest of the holiday weekend is quiet. Monday will be partly sunny with highs in the low 60s.
