Hodgson's press conference was to preview Crystal Palace's next fixture against Everton which takes place on Monday night - exclusively live on talkSPORT.

Palace have since confirmed the 76-year-old will not be well enough to take charge, with assistants Ray Lewington and Paddy McCarthy currently on standby.

Just five points separate the Eagles from the drop zone with Everton in 18th place, meaning Monday's match could be pivotal at Goodison Park.

Hodgson is on the brink of the sack at Selhurst Park after a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night.
