LUNCH ON DAY 2 — Tom Hartley bowls out the final over of the morning session, in which he concedes a boundary to Jurel with the debutant moving into the 30s with a firm cut through point in the fourth delivery. India collect 62 runs for the loss of two wickets after resuming from 326/5. England started off on an ideal note with Anderson and Root dismissing Kuldeep and Jadeja respectively in successive overs, but the attritional partnership between Ashwin and Jurel has once again shifted the momentum in favour of the home team, who are within touching distance of the 400-mark and still have three wickets in hand.

Jurel brings up fifty of the partnership with Ashwin for the eighth wicket after steering the ball down the ground and collecting an easy single on offer. The pair certainly have taken their time, having consumed 118 deliveries in what has been a patient stand so far. Ashwin keeps the strike with a single off the last delivery. Wood persists with the short ball tactic to Ashwin from the other end, and switches to round the wicket after Ashwin gets off strike with a bye. Jurel steers a full delivery angled down leg towards fine leg, where Rehan puts in a slide to prevent a boundary.
