Boys & Girls Basketball Conference Tournaments

Boys and girls basketball teams from across North Carolina will participate in conference tournaments Feb. 19-23.

Conference tournament brackets, schedules, and locations can vary from conference to conference, but HighSchoolOT is compiling all of the information from across the state to make it easier to follow.

Why are conference tournaments important? This will be the final time this season teams will have a chance to qualify for the state playoffs or improve their seed. Games played in the conference tournament will count towards RPI rankings used for playoff seeding. Also, teams who have not secured automatic bids during the regular season can secure an automatic bid by winning the conference tournament.

Do conference tournament games count towards playoff seeding? Yes. The results of conference tournaments will be reflected in RPI rankings and winners of the conference tournament will get an automatic bid to the state playoffs. In addition, any tiebreakers in conference standings that need to be broken for state playoff purposes will be broken during the conference tournament. In a tie, the team that advances the furthest in the tournament or wins head-to-head will win the tie-breaker. If both teams exit in the same round, a separate neutral-site tie-breaker game can be held.
