Another LBW appeal by Wood in the very next delivery, this time against Bumrah, and this time umpire Dharmasena raises his finger. It was an off-cutter from the pacer that deceived ‘Boom’, hitting him on the pad bang in front of middle and leg. Bumrah decides to review it, and gets three reds on HawkEye that signal the end of the Indian innings.

India have been bowled out for 445 after opting to bat, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj helping take the home team within touching distance of 450 with a stroke-filled final-wicket stand worth 30.

SIX! Rehan Ahmed gets smashed for a six by Jurel after starting his new spell with a half-tracker that is promptly pulled over the midwicket fence for a flat hit by Jurel. OUT! LUNCH ON DAY 2 — Tom Hartley bowls out the final over of the morning session, in which he concedes a boundary to Jurel with the debutant moving into the 30s with a firm cut through point in the fourth delivery. India collect 62 runs for the loss of two wickets after resuming from 326/5. England started off on an ideal note with Anderson and Root dismissing Kuldeep and Jadeja respectively in successive overs, but the attritional partnership between Ashwin and Jurel has once again shifted the momentum in favour of the home team, who are within touching distance of the 400-mark and still have three wickets in hand.

Jurel brings up fifty of the partnership with Ashwin for the eighth wicket after steering the ball down the ground and collecting an easy single on offer. The pair certainly have taken their time, having consumed 118 deliveries in what has been a patient stand so far. Ashwin keeps the strike with a single off the last delivery. Wood persists with the short ball tactic to Ashwin from the other end, and switches to round the wicket after Ashwin gets off strike with a bye. Jurel steers a full delivery angled down leg towards fine leg, where Rehan puts in a slide to prevent a boundary.
