It's been a special year for Scottsburg girl's basketball.
The Warrioretes won their first regional championship since 1995.
"It's amazing because I know that my name is going to be on a banner and I can when I come back to watch other games," Scottsburg senior Carrie Hiler said. "I'll sit up there and be proud of what I've accomplished."
Former Austin Peay University head coach Carrie Daniels is in her fourth season coaching her alma mater. She was a sophomore on the school's lone state championship in 1989.
Now she has the Warrioretes back in the state conversation.
"When I walk in this gym every day, I just get goosebumps," Daniels said. "The banners, knowing all the sweat and hard work that I poured in myself and the teams that I played on. And now to be back here and leading the team is so special. It's truly come full circle for me."
Scottsburg had two straight losing seasons before bouncing back last year with a 19-6 record.
This year, the group is 22-4 and just one game away from appearing in the Class 3A state championship.
"It means so much, not just for our team, but as the whole community," Scottsburg junior Ellie Richardson said. "(This is) for Scottsburg basketball, as a whole."
It's been 29 years since the Warriorettes have been in this position, but this team has no intentions of ending this historic run just yet.
"If we just can stay focused and continue doing what got us here to this moment in time, anything can happen," Daniels said.
Scottsburg plays Gibson Southern in the Class 3A Semi-state championships in Jasper, Indiana, at noon on Saturday.
