The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office less than a week before his death identified Gunter as a suspect in a series of car thefts in Fort Collins and Loveland, the Loveland Reporter-Herald reported. He was wanted on charges of aggravated motor vehicle theft and vehicular eluding after a Feb. 8, 2023, incident in which deputies alleged he eluded officers before abandoning a stolen vehicle on railroad tracks.
A second vehicle was reported stolen and found abandoned after that.
