Samsung's interest in artificial intelligence goes beyond Galaxy AI and what it can do for your smartphone user experience. Artificial intelligence can help the company's various divisions improve their competitiveness and better prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.

To that end, the company is putting its money where its mouth is and has embarked on a hiring spree that's particularly focused on hiring people who already have considerable experience working in AI roles.

Samsung is mainly hiring experienced people in AI roles

Reports out of South Korea show that Samsung's Device Experience division is hiring experienced workers for the mobile, TV, and home appliance businesses. The hirings are being done for over 90 positions and are largely concentrated in the AI field.

The company has also confirmed that it's going to hire experienced employees in these positions until February 26, 2024. It's unusual for the company to proactively only hire experienced workers across divisions. Previously, the various divisions would only hire experienced workers as and when required.

Some of these divisions are primarily focused on hiring AI talents. Samsung Research, for example, is looking for experienced workers in the fields of language and speech AI, vision AI, LLM development, generative AI models, and on-device AI development. Those workers will undoubtedly be creating products and services that expand the Galaxy AI suite.

Samsung's video display business is looking for workers with at least two years of AI and machine learning experience as well as CPU and SoC development. The mobile division is looking for DRAM engineers for low-power processors as well.

The hiring spree follows recent comments from Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong who said last month that “technical talents are indispensable to our core competitiveness.” So it's not surprising that Samsung's looking to bring new talent onboard as it seeks to navigate future challenges.
