Under the sports Academies Scheme, 11 academies of 18 sports are being run by the department. international level facilities are being provided by providing admission to 996 players in sports academies and feeder centers under the boarding and de-boarding scheme.

Three players from madhya pradesh, namely shooting player aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, hockey player Sushila Chanu, canoeing-kayaking para player Prachi Yadav, were honored with the arjuna Award and hockey Olympian coach Shri Shivendra Singh was honored with the Dronacharya Award-2023 by the government of India. The state of madhya pradesh has got this opportunity after 23 years, when three players from madhya pradesh were simultaneously honored with arjuna Award and one coach was honored with Dronacharya Award. In the 37th National Games held in Goa, 416 players of madhya pradesh participated in 37 sports and got 112 medals (37-gold, 36-silver, 39-bronze) and stood fourth in the medal table. This has been the best performance of our players so far.
