CROWN POINT — A Winfield man who was being interviewed as a witness in another criminal matter was implicated for having child pornography on his phone, according to court documents.
Harminder Sing-Heera, 23, was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, a level five felony. Level five felonies carry a penalty of between one and six years in prison.
According to a probable cause affidavit, detectives from the Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force were interviewing Sing-Heera on Feb. 28, 2023 because he supposedly knew a victim in an unrelated criminal case. Detectives asked Sing if they could forensically examine his cell phone, to which he consented.
After the cell phone was forensically examined and a data report was sent to detectives on Feb. 10, they discovered Sing-Heera had two videos and a picture on his phone that depicted an underage girl involved in a sex act with an adult male, according to the affidavit. The girls appear to be between 10 and 13 years old.
