Christy Bjornson, the head of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Division, has been named the director of Arkansas Tobacco Control.
Bjornson will continue in her role as director of the ABC and will replace Greg Sled, who died in December, at Arkansas Tobacco Control, according to a press release from the state Department of Finance and Administration.
Arkansas Tobacco Control oversees 5,262 tobacco permits across the state, ensuring the state’s tobacco retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers follow the state’s tobacco laws.
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Division oversees 6,468 alcohol permits and regulates the manufacture and distribution of alcohol and regulates the state medical marijuana program.
Before joining ABC in October, Bjornson was an attorney supervisor in the Department of Finance and Administration’s Office of Field Audit and was previously a deputy prosecuting attorney in the Sixth Judicial District.
