Chase ends in fiery crash along I-540; driver likely faces felony charge

Chase ends in fiery crash along I-540 after driver clocked going 95 mph

A driver who led state troopers on a high-speed chase in Raleigh that ended with a fiery crash on I-540 is facing at least one felony charge.

The crash happened near the Buffaloe Road exit around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was on the scene shortly after it happened. The trooper said the chase started when he clocked the driver going 95 mph.

The speeding car went off the side of I-540 and into trees.

The driver was taken to the hospital but was not badly hurt. The driver is expected to face several charges, including felony of fleeing to elude arrest.
