Bangladesh's PM Hasina encourages BGMEA to explore new markets

Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, during a recent meeting with a Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) delegation underscored the importance of widening the market horizons for Bangladesh’s export offerings.

“In order to enhance exports, it is crucial to both expand and diversify the markets for our products,” reportedly maintained the Prime Minister emphasising on the significance of market expansion alongside diversifying product offerings.

During the meeting, she also called upon the business representatives to prioritise product quality, recognising its pivotal role in international competitiveness and consumer satisfaction.

Speaking to the media, deputy press secretary to the Prime Minister, KM Shakhawat Moon, said the BGMEA delegation provided insights to the PM pertaining to business activities, trade dynamics, export challenges, and the prevailing market conditions.

In response to the concerns raised by the BGMEA delegation regarding various obstacles, including global circumstances, Sheikh Hasina attentively listened to the trade body members before pledging to address their concerns effectively.

The delegation comprised notable figures from the BGMEA, including president Faruque Hassan and former presidents Tipu Munshi, Abdus Salam Murshedy, Md Shafiul Islam, and Md Siddiqur Rahman.

Their presence signified the industry’s unified stance in engaging with the government to overcome challenges and foster a conducive environment for sustained growth and prosperity of Bangladesh garment industry.
