American Assassin, a 2017 action thriller starring Dylan O’Brien and Michael Keaton, is now the No. 1 movie on Netflix in the U.S. Other new films in the top 10 include Lover, Stalker, Killer, Made in Italy, Ready Player One, and Seraphim Falls. The biggest pop stars in music – Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Cyndi Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Boby Dylan, Ray Charles, Dianna Ross, and many more – came together for one night. Yet, the song almost didn’t happen.

9. Seraphim Falls (2007)
Three years after the end of the Civil War, Gideon (Pierce Brosnan), a former Union officer, is on the run from a group of attackers in the snowy Ruby Mountains. One of these men is Carver (Liam Neeson), a former Confederate soldier who blames Gideon for a terrible crime. Because of this, a bounty is placed on Gideon’s head.
Carver and his men hurt Gibson, but he manages to escape. A wounded Gibson must then navigate difficult terrain and unforgiving hazards to try and reach safety. Why does Carver want to kill Gideon? Something happened at Seraphim Falls, and Gideon won’t rest until he has his vengeance.
8. Tom & Jerry (2021)
Jerry Mouse and Tom Cat, the famous frenemies from the legendary cartoons, are the stars of Tom & Jerry, which combines live-action and animation. With dreams of becoming a pianist, Tom moves to New York City and plays keyboard. However, an incident destroys Tom’s keyboard, leading him to chase after Jerry. The chase ends with Jerry seeking solace in the Royal Gate Hotel.
Meanwhile, Kayla Forester (Chloë Grace Moretz) is looking for her big break as a wedding planner. With a fake résumé, she lands a job planning a huge wedding at the hotel, but Jerry’s presence threatens the entire event. In need of help, Kayla hires Tom to catch Jerry before the wedding. It’s a battle between Tom and Jerry in a hotel. What could go wrong?
7. Ready Player One (2018)
Enter the world of the OASIS in Ready Player One. In a dystopian future, humans escape the harsh realities of the real world by entering a virtual universe known as the OASIS, a place with no limits on imagination and creativity. Orphan teenager Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) thrives in the OASIS under his avatar, Parzival.
After OASIS creator James Halliday (Mark Rylance) dies, he leaves behind a challenge: if a player completes three challenges, they will find a golden Easter egg and become the owner of the OASIS. After completing the first challenge, Wade is targeted by Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn), the CEO of a capitalistic organization that seeks to control the OASIS. With the help of his friends, Wade races to find the Easter egg and save the OASIS from Sorrento’s wrath.
6. The Vow (2012)
Marriage vows state that you promise to love someone in good times and bad, in sickness and health. These promises are put to the test in The Vow. Newlyweds Paige (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum) get into a terrible car accident. Leo survives, but Paige slips into a coma.
When she wakes up in the hospital, Paige suffers from terrible amnesia, causing her to forget Leo and the life they had together. Paige’s parents (Sam Neill and Jessica Lange) use this opportunity to renew their fractured relationship with their daughter, even if that means pushing Leo out. Leo made Paige fall in love with him once. Can he do it again?
5. Made in Italy (2020)
Liam Neeson doesn’t always play action hero on a quest for revenge. In Made in Italy, Neeson plays an estranged father looking to reconnect with his son. Jack Foster (Micheál Richardson) is getting a divorce from his wife, Ruth (Yolanda Kettle). Jack manages an art gallery owned by Ruth’s family. When the family wants to sell the place, Jack offers to buy it, but needs one month to come up with the money.
Jack decides to sell an old home in Italy he owns with his father, Robert (Neeson). Jack has not been to the Italian house since his mother’s death when he was a child. To sell the house, Jack will need to fix up the house with Robert. But Jack’s relationship with his father needs to be repaired, first and foremost.
4. The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Thanks to NBCUniversal’s deal with Netflix, one of the biggest titles of 2023 – The Super Mario Bros. Movie – is available to stream. Based on the hit characters from the Nintendo games, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is an origin story for Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day), two Italian-American brothers working as plumbers in Brooklyn, New York.
While fixing a water main leak, the two brothers are sent down the Warp Pipe into two kingdoms. Mario lands in the Mushroom Kingdom with Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), while Luigi appears in the Dark Lands ruled by Bowser (Jack Black). Featuring other notable characters like Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) and Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen), Mario sets out to find Luigi and save the world from Bowser’s reign.
3. Orion and the Dark (2024)
Charlie Kaufman has explored mortality, identity crisis, and the human condition through adults for a quarter-century. Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Anomalisa come to mind. Now, Kaufman is applying some of those same principles through the eyes of a child in the animated Orion and the Dark. Orion (Jacob Tremblay) is a young boy with crippling anxiety and an irrational amount of fears – dogs, cell phone radiation, bees, rejection, etc.
Yet, Orion’s biggest fear is the dark. One night, Orion is confronted by the literal Dark (Paul Walter Hauser), who is determined to rid the young boy of his fear. Orion and Dark go on an unlikely adventure where the boy slowly learns that to live life to the fullest, he needs to be brave.
2. Lover, Stalker, Killer (2024)
Online dating takes a dark turn in the true crime documentary Lover, Stalker, Killer. At the center of the story is Dave Kroupa, a single man who tries his hand at online dating after moving to Nebraska in 2012. His new dating profile leads him to single mother Liz Golyar. The two hit it off, but keep things casual. Then, Kroupa met another single mom named Cari Farver and went on a few dates with her.
Farver accidentally runs into Golyar at Kroupa’s apartment. The story goes off the rails from there, as Farver would soon disappear. Yet, Farver would continue to stalk Kroupa for years. This complicated love triangle has many twists, including one you won’t expect in this disastrous tale of dating gone wrong.
1. American Assassin (2017)
While on vacation in Ibiza, Mitch Rapp (Dylan O’Brien) proposes to his girlfriend, Katrina Harper (Charlotte Vega), and she accepts. Moments later, Katrina dies in a terrorist attack on the beach. Over the next year and a half, Mitch dedicates his life to finding and killing the terrorists who murdered Katrina. Before making his final move, Mitch is recruited by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan) to join a black ops mission.
Mitch reluctantly accepts and trains under Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton). Their mission is to stop more terrorists from starting a global war after they steal a nuclear weapon. For fans of Ethan Hunt or Jason Bourne, American Assassin is a serviceable thriller with a compelling performance from O’Brien.
