Smart home security has never been more affordable, with plenty of sub-$100 and sub-$50 products for your protection, but your wallet may still feel the hit. Shopping for home security discounts can be tricky when you want to focus on quality and stay away from cheap knock-off brands. We're keeping our list current with the latest Presidents Day sales. Best home security cam deals
Ring's Stick Up cams are excellent mobile cams that you can move into any room or outdoor spot you'd like to watch over. They're ideal for summer playtime in the yard, switching a camera from watching over a baby to a living room nanny cam and plenty more uses. This deal makes the Pro model more affordable than we've seen in a long time.
Lorex is currently our go-to choice for local storage-only cameras that stay off the cloud (and can even stay off the internet altogether). This spotlight camera can do a little bit of everything, including objection detection, and thanks to Lorex's sitewide Presidents Day sale, it's one of the many cameras available with a discount.
Outdoor floodlight cameras add a lot of lumens to dark outdoor spaces, ideal for watching over a driveway or patio. If you've been looking for a camera like that, Lorex's sitewide sale cuts the price by $50. This is another cam that's great for local storage, free object detection, and similar advantages. Plus, you can customize the direction, color, brightness and color temperature of the floodlights, which not everyone lets you do.
We like Blink's Mini cams as a budget solution to watch over a small space, like a dorm or bedroom you're worried is getting the wrong kind of attention. But these security cams are tiny enough to go nearly everywhere, while still offering motion detection, live view, two-way audio and other expected features. This two-pack is extra cheap, but you won't get video storage without a Blink plan.
A large discount makes this Ring doorbell one of the most affordable smart video doorbells we've seen so far this year. The 1080p resolution, motion detection and privacy zones make it an excellent way to watch your front porch and nearby packages. It also works seamlessly with Echo Shows, which also have some notable deals. This doorbell has battery and wired options to suit any setup.
Arlo's wired doorbell is also getting a massive discount, making it an excellent first home security device for people who want to keep an eye on their front door. It has a broad 180-degree field of view and a zoom function, two features we don't often seen on video doorbells, which make it a good option to watch over a broad front lawn and streetside.
You may be eyeing a central spot above a garage or patio for a floodlight-enabled security camera with a broad view. Floodlight systems aren't usually cheap, but this Blink sale can help you save on its dual 700-lumen LED lights. It's also wireless for easy installation (no drilling required) in many locations, with a battery rated up to two years.
Blink's 1080p cam uses dual-zone motion detection, infrared night vision and two-way audio. However, you'll want a Blink subscription plan if you need cloud storage.
GE's Cync wired cam is ready for a shelf or wall mount to keep an eye on important rooms -- now with serious savings. Many of the features here are expected, like the full HD camera, motion detection, two-way audio and night vision. But we like that GE has elevated this camera with a couple of extras, notably the sound detection (ideal for babies and pets), and app previews of cam color and brightness while you're setting up. It also works with Google Assistant and Alexa.
Pet cameras can watch out for intruders, but their primary focus is the Fidos and Felixes in our homes. They can be expensive purchases, but this sale cuts the price by nearly a third. This HD camera has Alexa built in and can provide motion and audio alerts, along with night vision. It even has one of those little treat dispensers to interact with your pet -- just don't overfeed them when you're away.
Home security bundle deals
TP-Link's affordable Tapo system includes two 2K-resolution cams and a connection hub, ideal for a front-and-back camera setup at your home. The cameras are weatherproofed, come with 49-foot night vision, and allow you to set activity zones for identifying people, pets and vehicles. They're all-purpose outdoor security cams that can fill many roles, although you may want to grab a microSD card if you don't plan on using the Tapo subscription service.
Finding a large home security system can feel frustrating if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars and risk getting locked into a contract. Using this hefty discount, this SimpliSafe system is available below $300 -- and while a monitoring subscription is available, you can choose to self-monitor and waive the monthly fees.
Included in this kit is a base station, keypad, pack of entry sensors, motion sensor, key fob, siren and smoke detector. That makes it an effective DIY way to outfit a new home or apartment that's never had security tech before.
If you want to keep digital eyes watching several locations around your home at once, this Blink bundle is more than a third off and a very reliable way to get multiple compatible cameras. The kit includes a video doorbell, the latest outdoor camera and a Blink Mini cam. They come with the Alexa compatibility you can expect from Blink, and a very welcome extended battery life.
Solar panels pair with security cameras so, with the right placement, you don't have to worry about battery life (well, not very often). Usually solar panel bundles are expensive, but this Blink pack includes a solar charging mount and the third-gen Blink Outdoor camera for just $100.
The Echo Pop is a newer, compact Echo speaker designed for affordability. All the Alexa voice assistant capabilities are still here, including the option to control compatible security systems. Plus, the discounted bundle comes with a smart bulb to help light up (and add color) to any traditional light socket around your home.
Deals on smart locks
August's durable smart construction often comes with a price to match, but this deal lets you get a fourth-generation August smart lock on more affordable terms. The Wi-Fi smart lock fits onto your existing deadbolt, providing it with app management including the ability to share digital keys. You can also set schedules or make sure the door automatically locks after a certain period of time. The lock also has excellent compatibility, working with platforms including Alexa, HomeKit, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings.
This smart handle set is currently 33% off and offers an aesthetic alternative for those who find products like August smart locks a bit too bulky. While installation takes more work, you get a pair of svelte handles with built-in fingerprint reading for easy unlocks, a keypad deadbolt and key fobs (traditional keys still work, too). It's a smart remodel for your entryways that's rarely looked so good. The locks support up to 50 fingerprints and works with both Alexa and Google Home.
Deals on smart home tech
An Echo Show pairs well with any compatible security camera or video doorbell (Blink, Ring, Arlo, Google Nest, etc.), showing you a live view via a quick Alexa voice command, and letting you talk through devices without using the app. This is the most affordable we've seen the excellent Echo Show 8 with a 40% discount. You can also use that screen for video chats, YouTube videos, Amazon Prime shows, looking up recipes, catching the news and much more.
A little light can help create safer spaces, illuminate stairwells and drive the shadows away when it's time for bed. Plus, you can pair Amazon's discounted smart lamp with other Alexa devices and voice commands so they all work together.
If you're looking for simpler security tech, these little doorstops sound an alarm when they're activated. That's it -- they just help you know when a door has been opened. Sometimes that's all you need, and at under $15 this pair is currently a very good deal.
AirTags offers a simple solution to keep watch over things that matter. You can keep them in your backpack, your laptop bag, your bike, your pet's collar, your car and anything else that you want to monitor. AirTags will warn you when they're too far away, and you can always find where they are on the map (just keep those batteries charged). This four-pack is excellent for a family with multiple things to keep track of.
Looking for something more subtle than a security cam for your room? This passive infrared sensor is available for under $20 and relies only on AAA batteries. It comes with a chime unit that can ring in the room or a location of your choice if the sensor is ever crossed, scaring away intruders and letting you know that someone (including a furry friend) has gone where they shouldn't. You could even use it in combination with one of the discounted security cams on our list as an extra warning.
Discounted security platform pick
