Pothole repair on east SR-78 in Oceanside slows traffic for hours
Three lanes of eastbound SR-78 east of College Boulevard were shut down shortly before 10 a.m. as crews worked to repair a large pothole; lanes reopened around 1:45 p.m.
Drivers found slow conditions on eastbound state Route 78 in Oceanside for several hours Tuesday after a large pothole affecting three lanes was discovered.
The pothole was discovered in the eastbound lanes of SR-78 east of College Boulevard shortly after 9:45 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe.
Crews were sent to do the repair work, which took several hours. The lane closures caused a significant traffic backup well into the early afternoon.
Around 1:45 p.m., CHP officers reported that the pothole had been filled in and the lanes were clear, Latulippe said.
