Rockingham County High School has its next head football coach: Doug Robertson, who formerly led the Page Pirates' program. Robertson was approved by the Rockingham County Schools board on Monday night.

Robertson is set to take over for Brad Baker, who left the post to become the head coach at Elkin High School. Robertson resigned from Page in November.

This will not be the first time that Robertson has led a high school football program in Rockingham County. When Reidsville legend Jimmy Teague pursued an out-of-state opportunity between 2009-2011, Robertson, a longtime Reidsville defensive coordinator, was picked to lead the program.

In his first year as Reidsville's head coach, Robertson led the Rams to a 2009 2AA state championship victory. At Reisville, he had an overall head coaching record of 37-8. As an assistant at Reidsville, Robertson helped the Rams win four state championships. He is an alum of Reidsville High School. He was a two time all-conference offensive lineman while a student athlete there.

In 2012, Robertson served as the head coach at Person County High. The Rockets went 3-8 overall. Robertson left for the Eastern Guilford head job in 2013 and led the Wildcats through the 2017 season. In 2016, Eastern Guilford made it to the 3AA state championship game. The Wildcats also made it to the regional final in the following year. Robertson's overall record was 44-21 at Eastern Guilford. He also was the head coach at Thomasville High for two seasons (2018 and 2019). At Thomasville, Robertson's teams went 16-8 overall.

His career overall win-loss record as a head coach is 114-71.

Rockingham County is coming off of a 7-4 overall season. It was the Cougars' first playoff appearance since 2017.

The Cougars are a 3A program. Rockingham plays in the Mid-State 3A Conference.
