TAMPA, Fla. — One Hillsborough County homeowner says a business built to fulfill the high-speed dreams of car enthusiasts is causing her a headache.
Julie Matteson says the noise coming from The Motor Enclave — which opened its 1.6 mile Formula 1 performance track last year — has been an issue for months.
Matteson said she has sent multiple emails to officials about what she says has happened to her once quiet and peaceful neighborhood.
“I’ve sent complaints to county commissioners, to development services, to the county attorney’s office, to the sheriff’s department,” she said. “It makes me angry — they did what they did with a total disregard to homeowners.”
Matteson said she has already installed a wall next to her house to block out the noise.
"It doesn’t block anything," she said. "The noise is so big back here.”
Matteson says she also had recordings of what she hears from her backyard, which she says is only 400 feet away from the track.
“It could be any day, any time, once that track gets going with multiple people on it ... there’s no getting away from the noise,” she said. “It’s a level of insanity if you are standing on my property. It will go for hours."
Hillsborough County officials, meanwhile, say Matteson is the only resident who has complained about the noise coming from the track.
The owner of The Motor Enclave, Brad Olshansky, sent Spectrum News a statement saying his facility is "in compliance with our zoning.”
