AJ Hurt soars to historic podium finish in Soldeu, Andorra

In the heart of Soldeu, Andorra, the slopes witnessed an electrifying performance from the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski team, headlined by AJ Hurt from Palisade Tahoe. Saturday’s race unfolded with suspense and success as AJ Hurt maneuvered her way to a surprising podium finish in the giant slalom event. 

Hurt catapulted from sixth to third place after an unbelievable second run, not only marking her second podium of the season but also her maiden triumph in the giant slalom discipline.

“I just went as hard as I could out of the gate and I’m really glad this is the outcome,” Hurt said. “I couldn’t ask for a better group of coaches.”



The significance of this podium finish resonates within the skiing community, as Hurt’s ascent to the podium symbolizes a resurgence of American prowess in alpine skiing. Hurt became the first U.S. woman, apart from skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin, to grace the World Cup giant slalom podium since the legendary Lindsey Vonn in Dec. 2015.
