A wind advisory in effect Tuesday expires at noon. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will be possible Tuesday morning, which could lead to wind damage and power outages.

Lingering overnight rain was pushing out Tuesday morning and the day overall will be dry and partly cloudy.

"Last night's showers move out and skies will be clearing. It remains breezy through the afternoon with mostly sunny skies and temperatures holding in the mid 50s to low 60s," said Elizabeth Gardner.

  • Tuesday: WRAL Weather Alert Day: Wind gusts around 45 mph. Highs around 60 degrees.
  • Wednesday: Highs in the upper 50s. No rain in the forecast.
  • Thursday: Partly cloudy, windy and milder. Highs in the lower-mid 60s.

Wind gusts should start to die down after 1 p.m., with gusts in the teens in the late afternoon and early evening.

Looking ahead

We'll return to the 60s by Tuesday afternoon and Valentine's Day. The weather looks great for Wednesday, with a lot of sunshine, but it will be chilly into the evening.

Valentine's Day will be sunny and pleasant with a high of 58.

The next chance for showers comes on Saturday, but rain chances are small.
