Chilly Tuesday evening before a 60-degree Valentine's Day

Tuesday night will be chilly with low temperatures in the low-to-mid 30s. Valentine's Day brings lots of sunshine with temperatures reaching 60 degrees.

Winds are starting to calm down as we are in for a chilly and dry night.

It will be cold Tuesday night, with lows in the 30s overnight and into Wednesday morning.

It was a windy day Tuesday, with gusts reaching 46 mph at the Fayetteville Regional Airport, but winds will be calmer tonight, with wind speeds forecasted for 7 mph at RDU.

Temperatures will dip into the 30s on Wednesday night.

Dew points should be in the low 20s for the evening.

Tuesday night: Chilly and dry, lows in the 30s.
Wednesday: Abundant sunshine and highs in the 60s. No rain in the forecast.
Thursday: Partly cloudy, windy and milder. Highs in the lower-mid 60s.

Looking ahead

Temperatures will return to the low 60s by Tuesday afternoon. For Valentine's Day, the weather looks great for Wednesday, with a lot of sunshine and highs around 60. The best hours to be outside will be between noon and 4 p.m.

Temperatures will hit the upper 50s on Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday evening will be chilly, however, with lows dropping into the 30s.

Thursday and Friday will be mild and dry, with highs in the low to mid 60s.

The weekend is cooler with highs in the low 50s. A couple of showers are possible Saturday, but the rest of the holiday weekend is quiet. Monday will be partly sunny with highs in the upper 50s.

Of the two weekend days, Sunday will be drier than Saturday.

It's the 10 year anniversary of the snow storm called the Snowpocalypse that took place Feb.12-13, 2014. The snow storm became a meme fest for the Triangle.
April 8 will be the next solar eclipse. We won't see it in NC, but lots of people will travel to take it in! Ohio will be the closest spot to drive to from Raleigh.
