Brews and heavy metal are jamming together again as Orange County band Avenged Sevenfold and Four Sons Brewing team up for another beer collaboration.
“Both our brewery and the band are Huntington Beach-based. We have gotten to know the band quite well over the years through some of the members’ passion for craft beer, not to mention we were and are big fans of their music,” said Deven Dufresne, director of operations for Four Sons Brewing.
The brewery recently released its second version of the “Life is But a Dream” beer. It’s a West Coast DIPA brewed with citra, mosaic and talus hops and also named after the band’s eighth studio album, which came out last year.
“At the time, it was only intended to be a one time release. However, the beer was very well received both in the beer community and by the bands fans, so we have decided to continue on with the collaboration by doing a nationwide release through Craftshack,” Dufresne said. “It’s super clean, clear, and has a good bitterness.”
The beer is available for a limited time and is only sold through Craftshack, an online alcohol vendor that sells drinks nationwide, at craftshack.com. It’s not available at the brewery or local stores, but is available now for pre-order for $28.99 for a four-pack of 16-ounce specialty designed cans.
Dufresne said it is expected to sell out.
If you can’t get your hands on that beer, the brewery is continuing to collaborate with the band members around St. Patrick’s Day when they release a hard seltzer dubbed “Electric Melonade,” in partnership with the band’s bassist Johnny Christ and his podcast “Drinks with Johnny.”
The brewery has collaborated with other bands in the past including Huntington Beach-based rock, hip-hop and reggae outfit Dirty Heads. Back in 2018, Four Sons and Dirty Heads collaborated on the Vacation Pineapple Session Ale, which was named after a catchy single on the band’s 2017 album, “Swim Team.”
