MUNSTER — Munster football will have a new coach on the sideline in 2024.
Jason Grunewald stepped down as the Mustangs head coach in December after six seasons with the program. On Monday, Munster announced the hiring of Romison Saint-Louis to lead the program.
"My family and I are honored and excited to join the Mustang family," Saint-Louis said in a press release. "Something special is happening in Munster. Our football program will be the standard on and off the field. Together, we will build an empire and return Munster football back to its rightful place."
The Mustangs have struggled in recent years, winning just two Northwest Crossroads Conference games across the last six seasons. Munster last finished with a winning record in 2014. The Mustangs won five sectional titles in an 11-year stretch between 1985 and 1996 — the only sectional titles in program history.

Saint-Louis comes to Munster after most recently serving as the head coach at Elkhart.
In Saint-Louis' first season in charge of the Lions, he led them to a 7-3 record. In his second season in 2023, the Lions stumbled to a disappointing 3-7 record, leading to his firing in November.
"I am thrilled to bring coach Saint-Louis to Munster to lead our football program and to foster an elite student-athlete experience," Mustangs athletic director Mike Schultz said in the press release. "His passion for the game, commitment to developing the whole student-athlete and dedication to building a culture of winning football all the way down to our youth programs perfectly aligns with our goals."
Under Saint-Louis, Elkhart's program grew from 127 players to 143 at the end of his two years. He also created a strength and conditioning program at the middle school level, "demonstrating his dedication to developing athletes from a young age," according to the press release.
Elkhart also had zero players deemed academically ineligible during Saint-Louis' tenure, a decrease in players requiring summer school and a growth in team GPA.
"The Munster High School community is excited to welcome coach Saint-Louis and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact he will undoubtedly have on our football program and student-athletes," the press release read. "With his leadership, expertise and dedication, we are confident that Munster High School football will continue to thrive both on the field and in the classroom."
