LITTLE ROCK MARATHON 2023 Brian Chilson

Runners with their sights set on competing in the Little Rock Marathon event the first weekend of March only have a few weeks left for training. And if you’re late to the party but wanna get in on the action, just three spots for the full 26.2-mile race on March 3 were available as of Feb. 12. The half marathon had 80 spots open, and both the 10K and the 5K on March 2 are sold out.

Registration will remain open until Feb. 23, or until all the spots are taken. Geneva Lamm, the intrepid leader of the Little Rock Marathon, has been regularly sending alerts to ensure people get signed up before prices increase. Last year, the average registration price for the marathon was $117. The closer to race day you sign up, the more expensive it is.

The Little Rock Marathon is known for its giant finishers’ medals. This year, the race theme is “Dino-Mite,” and the medals reflect that with sparkly T-rexes, triceratopses and other prehistoric creatures.

Though titled the Little Rock Marathon, the event includes multiple races. On Saturday, March 2, runners will head off on a 10K or 5K at 7:30 a.m, which is followed by a kids race at 11 a.m. The big race is scheduled for Sunday, March 3 at 8 a.m., with an early start for approved runners at 6 a.m.

No parking is allowed on the route the day of the race, and streets will be opened on a rolling schedule as the last athletes clear the area.
